Ekaterina Venkina is a Moscow-born journalism junkie. She started her career in 2007 creating radio plays. Two years later, she moved to a major Russian news agency. Within the next five years, she gained experience as a news editor and reporter across different formats and borders (in the US, UK and Belgium).
Since 2014, she has been based in Bonn, Germany, where she is part of the team producing content for a German public international broadcaster. She reports on world politics, Russia and regional issues of the former USSR countries.
Venkina is part of the journalistic network n-ost in Berlin, the professional association of freelance journalists, Freischreiber, and has received scholarships from the International Journalism Programmes (IJP), the Swedish Institute, the Institute for the Promotion of Young Journalists (IFP) in Munich, and the Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism in Athens, Ohio, among others.
